GEORGETOWN. Originally established in 1981, the Addison/Ripley Gallery recently moved to the Georgetown area. This gallery carries artists well known in the area, as well as those known nationally and internationally. Feel free to browse through the paintings, sculptures, fine arts and photography that are on display. They sponsor 6 to 10 shows each year.

GEORGETOWN. A great collection of contemporary and pop art prints includes works by Warhol, Lichtenstein, Haring and Rauschenberg. Other exhibits rotate and may include mid-career artists such as Tom Slaughter, Scott Kilgour and Donald Baechler, as well as the masters who have influenced them. Open Wednesday by appointment only. GEORGETOWN. This single-room gallery presents a variety of local artists and specializes in black and white photography and works of contemporary realism (drawings, paintings and prints). Its goal is to help new collectors find works that easily fit into their homes and which aren't intimidating in subject matter or price. Each month, the exhibition changes and focuses on a single artist; openings are held on the third Friday. An annual, juried show features both national and international artists. Unpretentious and accessible. A second, larger gallery opened in early 2002 in nearby Bethesda, MD. Four times the size of its Georgetown sister, this second gallery focuses on established and well-known artists while Fraser Georgetown continues to offer the best in young and emerging artists. GEORGETOWN. This gallery is well known for showcasing pop art that's by or about famous rock musicians. Begun as a gallery displaying figurative paintings and drawings, it has grown to include pop and folk art in its collection. You'll find not only pictures and drawings of rock stars, but you may also spy a drawing by an original Beatle or paintings by a member of the Rolling Stones. LOGAN CIRCLE. Hemphill Fine Arts is run by George Hemphill and specializes in abstracts. Artists from the area are featured, as well as a few widely known names. In addition to the abstract works, you can also find photography, sculpture and works on paper. METRO: Dupont Circle
